Your Legacy

INNOVATION FOR THE BLIND (previously known as Institute for the Blind), is a non-profit organisation that has been catering for the all-inclusive needs of persons with visual impairments since 1881.

Our Vision is: To measurably improve quality of life for the visually impaired, and the
unique and specialised services we have been offering in this regard to those often marginalised by society, were made possible only through continued support of our invaluable partners and loyal friends.

As we continue working on building and growing an accountable, transparent and sustainable organisation that delivers high standards of service into the future, we want to invite you to consider your legacy. Why not leave one that endures, one that continues to make a powerful impact on the empowerment of the blind and visually impaired? You can do this by bequeathing to us, by making us the (or one of the) beneficiary in your will in one of the following ways:

Main types of Bequests:

  1. Specific Bequest, i.e. Specific Amount Of Money:
I bequest to the Innovation for the Blind, 132 Church Street, Worcester, 6850 free of all tax the sum of R................. (or the specific item/s as the case may be) and I further direct that the receipt of their Treasurer or other proper offer shall be a full and sufficient discharge.
  2. Residual Bequest, i.e. Remains In Your Will:
Subject to the payment of my debts, funeral and testamentary expenses, I give ....... (“all” or “percentage”) of the residue of my estate not otherwise disposed of by this my Will, to the Innovation for the Blind, 132 Church Street, Worcester, 6850 and I further direct that the receipt of their Treasurer or other proper officer shall be a full and sufficient discharge.
  3. A Codicil to your Existing Will:
To add a bequest to the Innovation for the Blind, Worcester, in your existing will, simply add the following wording, signed by yourself and 2 witnesses
“in addition to the provision of my said Will, I give to Innovation for the Blind (Institute for the Blind), 132 Church Street, Worcester, 6850, the sum of ............................... or (description of item) ...............................................................

Bequests offer tax benefits: all gifts made to a NGO/Charity are free of tax. It means that if you make a gift to Innovation for the Blind, Worcester in your Will, the value of that gift is deducted from your estate before the amount of the estate duty is calculated. This reduces the tax burden on your estate.
