Innovation for the Blind (previously Institute for the Blind), situated in the care capital town of South Africa, Worcester, is a non-profit organisation that has been catering to the all-inclusive, specialised needs of visually impaired adults since 1881. Our mission is to empower persons who are blind, partially sighted or deafblind, including visually impaired persons with additional disabilities towards improved quality of life and reaching maximal levels of independence.

We offer specialised residential care to persons with visual impairments in facilities that offer reasonable accommodation – specifically adapted to their needs.
At Innovation for the Blind we offer various therapeutic services to our visually impaired and multi-disabled residents.
Our organisation continuously explores new innovative and economically viable opportunities in aid of our core focus in caring for persons with visual impairments.
Orientation & Mobility
Orientation and Mobility, or O&M, is a profession which focuses on instructing individuals who are blind or visually impaired with safe and effective travel through their environment.
Low vision is the loss of sight that is not correctible with prescription eyeglasses, contact lenses or surgery.
