Good day, how may we assist you?
Imagine opening your eyes one morning and all you see is darkness. Have you ever thought of who you would turn to for help if you lost your sight?
Sanna, Innovation for the Blinds’ friendly switchboard operator, was partially sighted since the age of 7. One morning, at the age of 27, she woke up and her sight was gone.
Sanna lost her sight due to a torn retina. But all hope was not lost thanks to a place called Innovation for the Blind. A safe, all-inclusive working, training, and living environment empowering persons with visual and additional impairments. Here Sanna has mastered various skills and has since April 2017 found her niche as the friendly voice on Innovation for the Blinds’ Switchboard. Operating ± 50 extensions from memory alone on two incoming phone lines and taking messages on the braille typewriter whilst listening to the caller, now that is impressive! Sanna has overcome many obstacles with the support of Innovation and now even offers informal switchboard training to others, thanks to her helpful, vibrant personality.
Sanna is grateful for Innovation and for the opportunity she has to be employed and thus feel empowered. Her motto is to live every day to the fullest and to be an inspiration to others through her actions and achievements.
Sanna is a brave and inspiring young lady… but her success story would be impossible without you!
