Message from our CEO, Stephné Botha
We are excited about the new year – our wish for Innovation and for each person reading this message is that you will start each day with gratitude, that you will live in the moment, that you will laugh more, create meaningful connections, that you will focus on the positive, believe that good will prevail, that you will find ways to be generous, but very important that you will choose to be happy no matter your circumstances.
Every year there are challenges, and, in every year, there will be highlights to look forward to. Looking back on 2021, we would firstly like to thank every donor friend, staff member, resident, and partner of Innovation for the Blind for your continued support. We do not take your loyalty towards our organisation for granted and we will continue to strive towards making you proud and measurably improving the quality of life for the visually impaired.
2021 was a transformative year for Innovation, a year in which the organisation was strengthened and in which we could roll out various new initiatives. We worked hard at setting in place the building blocks to reach our long-term goals.
We would like to take a moment to focus on some of the highlights of 2021: The establishment of our Resource Centre and the Barista Training center, a visit from KykNet’s Dankie Lottoland, the impact of the research done at Innovation for the Blind by the Henley Business School (UK), new contracts for our skills development such as the work performed by our Groundskeeping team in the Worcester community, the 100-year celebration of the white cane and the completion of our first solar plant – the first step in reaching our energy goals for 2022.
2022 is set to be another exciting year for us, we look forward to working on our various initiatives. We will focus on creating better work opportunities for persons with visual impairments, moving forward with our research initiative in determining the educational needs of persons with visual impairments and establishing new and growing old partnerships.
